Hi yevrowl, Have you tried playing against the Minimax Chess above? It plays good but needs an interface! I hope bplus reads this as I wanted to ask him if he can combine his Interface with the Minimax Chess? It would then make a great little program, you will have good strength & looks, the only other thing I would ask bplus is can you make the coordinates around the edge of the board a bit smaller? A.R.B

It is tempting, not getting much done with my editor at moment but in fact down a completely different rabbit hole about diet and health.
I fear I get halfway through building the interface and find out it is the same crappy code I used to build the first one which was from the QB64 samples by same name I think. I can't stand the input method required to test playing the game same as the one I built the interface from. I didn't know how crappy the code was until I could test it using the interface. i suppose I could compare the 2 source codes if I can locate the one I used way back 3 computer hard drives ago.

Update: I have dug into the chess programs I have collected and it appears Minimax might have started from same core, but it has 5 times the lines compared to the one I built an interface to. So it may be a worthwhile project to interface that one with a similar approach.
I think the first interface I used was a chess font that printed chess figures as text as opposed to drawing or putting images.
