Update: These are consistently taking over 55 shots to sink in 100 Random Tests against my AI

Ah I see something already! a V dominance of positioning. That works because I test for horizontal layouts in my systematic shooting around a first hit for a second one! So 2 extra shots taken for every ship positioned vertical. hmm... the enemy could easily exploit this.

I've been going around in circles trying to get AI to randomly shoot around a first hit on a ship but to follow the direction of a second hit until ship is sunk or that way stops getting hits and then to shoot at the opposite direction!
I do have the average maximum shots under 60, repeat on average, that seems a slight improvement.
