Seems the mouse pointer is a little off in the editor. If the pointer is at the halfway point or below the highlighted line, clicking highlights the next line. This is really aggravating to make sure the mouse is high enough over a line to work on it, copy or paste text. Had the same problem in an older version of QB 64, but closing the window and re-opening it clears up the problem. Not so with this new version. It's like it defaults at the wrong position when you open the editor. This is the only software I have this problem with.

Forgot to mention, Windows 7 Pro. SP1, 64bit. Not running in DOSBox. Runs directly from executable.

Yeah this problem has been around forever, DON"T RUN QB64 in a Maximised Window use the other sizable setting where you can see arrows along the border to shrink or grow the border. This condition can be seen immediately with a crack between the Windows Title bar and QB64 IDE's Menu Bar. When you see that crack get the hell out of maximised mode and back to resizable mode. Here is a screen shot of this notorious crack! You will see much improved mouse alignments when you step down from maximised screen to resizable screen. Fixed crack = fixed mouse alignment

Yeah I just tried to duplicate that crack for a better screen shot of the right side so you can see the box versus box on box setting but ha! wouldn't you know it, when you want to see the crack, it disappears!
Anyway if you find a crack between QB64 IDE Menu bar and Windows Title Bar then your mouse alignment is going to be way off. No crack probably means mouse alignment is oK.

In all honesty, the pictures were too small for me to see well. But I got the gist of what you were saying. Mainly glad to know it's not localized to my setup. I always run in full screen window. I guess if I minimize and re-maximize, it sometimes clears it up. Of course after I tried it, it went away and now I can't duplicate the error either. So it's a quirky error at best and a very annoying one at worst.

Ah, you have to member up to click a snap and see it at normal size.
Take home message: If you see any gap between Windows Title bar and QB64 IDE Menu bar you will likely want to click the resize box so mouse alignment works correctly.

Figured out what causes the error to appear. It's when you open another file while there's already one loaded in the editor.

It must be the dialog box for opening the file. I notice exactly when it closes the dialog the crack appears! (in a maximised window. Very good observation!

It really depends on your monitor size and resolution. Some work perfectly with maximized QB64. My 24" 1080p monitor at work has no gap between the IDE and titlebar. But my 1440p monitor at home does.

Yes probably some rounding error with screen sizes.
